Effective Personal Protection (EPP) was set up by Keef Sloan, a long time practitioner of martial arts, and an equally long time serving school governor (within both primary and secondary schools).

It was whilst working closely with senior leaders within education that the discussion of de-escalation training within the school environment came about.

This led to the development of a course initially designed to help teaching staff, and subsequently adapted to help other professionals working in a public facing role.

For the past 40 years Keef has continued to train classes and individuals, as well as assisting in the training of international martial athletes.

He received his 4th Dan Master instructor ranking from Grand Master Kang Uk Lee (10th Dan) in 2007, and currently holds the internationally recognised rank of 6th Dan.

He is also the proud father of twin daughters.

As well as continuing to develop and evolve the EPP offering, Keef also loves to cycle and motorcycle, and currently serves as a the vice chair of finance on the governing board of a large West Sussex secondary school.
