The course
The course can accommodate a maximum of 18 participants.
Loose, comfortable clothing should be worn (think: going to the gym).
The format for the session is:
Presentation from the trainer on key elements, basics, verbal control, historical example discussion points (45m)
Some simple physical partner work (45m)
Q&A time and final group discussion (15m)
Wrap up & certification
Recommended; 2 x short comfort breaks for refreshment.
What you’ll learn
The course syllabus contains the following elements:
Outline of definitions, including reference to industry white papers (DfE Use of Reasonable Force documentation etc.)
Basics of key de-escalation techniques (awareness) & self defence foundational overview.
Safe non-confrontational threat stances.
Knives (discussion only)
Response to a number of basic physical grabs.
Learning the mechanics and theory of falling safely / getting back up to a non-confrontational safe stance.
Establishing safe intervention technique strategy.
