DE-ESCALATION SKILLS TRAINING
What is this training all about?
Prepare for the unexpected, but do not fear it.
The purpose of this 2 ½ hour course is to give everyone working in schools, health facilities or any other public facing environment some basic knowledge of how to de-escalate a situation, and be able to more confidently deal with circumstances that may arise.
The aim is to give greater confidence to the individual, and a sense of control should it ever be required.
In the very unlikely event of having to respond to a physical altercation this course also equips students with some simple, proven and effective tools to help them, and the wider public, remain safe.
This course is for everyone and does not require any special skillset, nor a specific level of fitness.
This course is not a martial art - it’s a beginners course that focuses on effective techniques that can be used within the frameworks of various white papers, including the recently updated Use of Reasonable Force and Other Restrictive Interventions in Schoolsguidelines issued by the Department of Education.
It is for everyone who wants to learn. The physical element is not mandatory and participants who wish to refrain can simply watch and learn, but it is strongly recommended that all participants take part in as much as they are comfortable with.
